Maintenance
It is highly recommended to clean once a year the furniture with soapy water followed by a good rinse to get rid of the impurities.
Teak :
Because of its very high oil content teak wood is imputrecible. It therefore does not need to be painted and is suitable for outdoor use. It will adapt itself to climatic variations.
- If you wish to keep the original colour : After having brushed down the impurities with soapy water and rinsed the furniture you can apply a coat of wood sealer. This will slow down the greying process. This product will make the wood resistant to stains on table top.
- Your Teak Furniture has turned grey and you want to regain the original colour : If your furniture has never been treated before you should apply a coat of Net Trol to clean it up, and then apply the wood sealer.
- You want to let it age naturally : No treatment is necessary; the wood will gradually turn silver grey and merge naturally into your garden.
- You have just stained your furniture : Water based stains will go with plenty of water or a bit of sanding down. For grease we recommend using a textile stain remover.
Resin wicker and Batyline : Washing down with soapy water and a good rinse will be the best option for both materials. Resin wicker which is made out of Raucord fibre may support low impact jet wash. Batyline cloth is synthetic so cigarettes burns will damage it and it cannot be repaired and will have to be replaced. If stained, you can apply a stain remover for synthetic fabrics but we recommend trying it on the reverse first.
Cushions : Our Dralon fabrics are factory treated so they should not stain. For water based marks, we recommend to rehydrate them on the reverse and then drying out with a clean and dry cloth. Do not use detergent or household stain remover. For grease stains, always take away the excess first and then apply an appropriate stain remover for Dralon. Please check the instruction of the detergent used or ask a professional for advice. The cushion covers are machine washable at 30 degrees, do not tumble dry or spin.
Parasols : Our Florida Parasol has a Vinyl based cloth in Textilene which is maintained like Batyline (soapy water and a rinse). The Colibri model and the Butterfly tent are covered in a Acrylique based cloth which has the same properties as Dralon. Our Classical parasols with a varnished pine mast have a waterproofed cotton cloth. To clean those, dust them first, and then wash them with cold water (garden hose) and gentle soap. Make sure the detergent used is soft otherwise the waterproofing treatment will go. You can Bleach it with Blanc Nuclear (see instructions). During the winter month store your parasols in a dry place cover them so they do not accumulate dust. NEVER store them in plastic, as it will result in mouldy stains.
